About Us:  112th Air Operations

Since 1949, the 112th served as a worldwide-deployable ground mobile radar unit -- tackling everything from fighter intercepts and refuelings to surveillance to counter-drug operations.  As we closed the chapter on Air Control, we left behind a rich history of federal service spanning from the Korean Conflict through today's Operations.

For the 21st Century, the Unit has entered conversion to the 112th AOS serving the US Central Command Air Forces (CENTAF) Air Operations Center (AOC) and other AOCs worldwide.

WHERE IS THE 112th AOS?

The 112th AOS is situated in Central Pennsylvania, in close proximity to Penn State University, and shares a border with the University Park Airport. The Unit enjoys a 53-year partnership of good will and mutual assistance with PSU.  Happy Valley is a GREAT place to work and live!

Belonging to the PA Air Guard means big time tuition-assistance for all PA  colleges, in some cases up to 100% tuition plus GI Bill, plus spending $$ earned at weekend drills and during Annual Training or exercises.

WHAT IS AN AIR OPERATIONS CENTER (AOC)?

  • The AOC is the Joint Force Air Component Commander’s (JFACC’s) headquarters for running the air war.
  • The simple explanation for the AOC’s complex job is to produce logical plans for each day of a conflict, execute them, and then evaluate their effects for input into the next day’s plan.
  • The 112th Air Operations Squadron is a manpower force multiplier for various Air Operations Centers in the United States and abroad.
